“The cost-savings found in London were much higher because of the kinds of crimes… reductions in reconvictions through RJ Conferencing saved the Criminal Justice System 14 times the cost of delivering RJ; in Thames Valley the cost-savings ratio was 2 to 1 (RJ saved the CJS twice as much as it cost to deliver). Summed together the RJ Conferencing demonstrated cost-savings on average of £9 to £1 – through reductions in the frequency of offending RJ saved the CJS 9 times what it cost to deliver."

Access to Restorative Interventions in your school can be provided through the CEN. Whether that be through sending your staff on our training courses, organising training in your own school, or contacting us to arrange a whole school approach that will transform the climate of the school and make it one that OFSTED recognise as outstanding.
The CEN’s RJ Trainer is registered with the Restorative Justice Council and our courses are to a nationally recognised standard. Restorative Interventions can enable schools to:
Deal with challenging behaviour and conflicts that achieve a result for both sides of a disagreement;Seek accountability for everyone’s involvement and the impact their behaviour has had on others;Make available a fair process that encourages personal responsibility to be taken for individuals’ actions;Improve the emotional intelligence and communitarian skills of children, young people and adults; andDevelop a positive climate where community is central to its ethos and a sense of belonging transforms the conversations and actions towards each other.
Our approaches and courses prepare schools to use restorative circles; restorative dialogues; affective statements in corridors; mini-conferencing; mediation; family group conferencing and restorative conferencing.
We are committed to the young people we represent and support. As a result, we want them to return to school to succeed both academically and personally, ensuring they are able to fulfill their potential and ultimately make a contribution to an enlightened and productive society. However, even if we secure a young person’s reintegration, if relationships have not been restored a pupil more often than not returns to school with the underlying issues unresolved. At worst this can lead to further behaviour resulting in another exclusion and at best the pupil’s enthusiasm for learning and participating in school life is diminished because of their experience of exclusion and the way they have processed it. We therefore recommend that schools offer Restorative Approaches including conferencing in order to create the conditions whereby pupil and relevant school staff can create the space in which everyone can progress uninhibited by past grievances.
Our school value deal starts from £1000 which includes:
