The Board of Trustees is at the centre of the CEN governance. Board members are Trustees of the CEN which is a charity registered in England and Wales. Their responsibilities are in essence identical to those of a non-executive Director who serves on a company board. Charity trustees are responsible for the general control and management of the administration of the charity.
Collectively, the Board is responsible for the overarching long term strategy of the organisation, and for delivery of its mission and objectives. It agrees the annual business plan and budget, and sets and monitors the key performance indicators. It has responsibility for the short and long term financial health and probity of the CEN, including the assessment and mitigation of risk. It approves the published accounts for issue to members and to the Charity Commission.
